Initial Consultation and Sales Experience
Following a non-fault accident, I visited the dealership while waiting for my insurance company to finalise my previous vehicle’s status. I was particularly impressed with the salesperson I dealt with initially. Being a larger individual, I was concerned about vehicle accessibility; the dealer was incredibly sensitive and helpful, proactively suggesting models with ample room and advising which ones to avoid. This professional approach put me at ease and ensured the process was entirely comfortable.
Flexibility with the Holding Process
Once I had chosen a vehicle, Wilsons was very accommodating. They allowed me to extend the initial £100 holding period while I awaited an update from my insurers, which I greatly appreciated. The deposit process was thereafter straightforward and stress-free.
Communication and Collection Issues
The experience became more difficult during the week of collection. My original salesperson was unfortunately away on sick leave, and the handover to the rest of the team was not seamless. I rang twice on the Friday to confirm that my full payment had been cleared — as I was advised this could not be verified on a Saturday — but I never received the promised call back. Subsequent attempts to reach the branch resulted in me being diverted to a central call centre rather than the local team.
Resolution on Collection Day When I arrived on the Saturday to collect the car, it was not ready and the paperwork had stalled due to the staff absence. This created a major issue, as I had already returned my hire car and needed to get to work that afternoon. To the team’s credit, once the urgency was made clear, they worked incredibly hard to resolve the situation. They were able to release the vehicle to me that day, though it does require a return visit for a proper deep clean that could not be completed in the rush. I also had to wait about 40 minutes, but I was offered tea or coffee and it was warm inside the dealership.
Final Verdict
Overall, the staff are helpful and provide a good service. However, there is a clear need for better inter-team communication and a more robust process for covering staff sickness. If they can improve their internal systems so that one person’s absence does not disrupt a customer's collection, the service would be faultless.
